Ahh sour cream. Perfect on baked potatoes, chili and so much more. This 6-ingredient tofu sour cream is the easiest to throw together in a hurry. It’s also a great base for making vegan ranch dressing too. If you’re not interested in using soy, I also have a cashew-based version of this recipe here.
I love the simplicity of using just a few wholesome ingredients to yield something that’s otherwise traditionally very unhealthy. You can instead make it vegan and save yourself the unnecessary fat and animal suffering. It’s win-win! Definitely worth giving a try if you’re struggling to kick dairy from your diet or you’re already dairy-free and looking for a plant-based alternative. Many store bought versions contain palm oil. Which usually isn’t ethically sourced and leads to the destruction of our orangutan population. I apologize for the heavy topic, but it’s important to me to share why I avoid specific things. Based on facts alone, my information is for educational purposes. I strive to inform others of the realities going on in this world.
So if you’re looking to kick dairy and you’re in need of a better option, I highly recommend going the tofu route. It’s cheaper, more readily available worldwide and completely fine in moderation. I love to top my potato pancakes, recipe coming later this week, with a dollop and/or really anything potato-based. I think this sour cream would also be perfect on my onion pierogi, 3-bean chili AND cauliflower tacos.
What would you use this tofu sour cream for?
